School is a time for dreams, every kid deserves this - Shannen Koostachin
Shannen was a young Cree education activist from Attawapiskat First Nation, Ontario. Shannen and other youth in the community advocated for “safe and comfy schools.” She used social media platforms to encourage Indigenous and non-Indigenous kids across the country to write letters to the government, asking for change and equal opportunities for every student.
Planting a Seed is an organization that is solely focused on providing children in the First Nations communities in Ontario with the basic school supplies needed to help support their education journey. There is a lack of basic resources that most school children in Canada take for granted – supplies such as backpacks, stationary, pens, pencils and so much more.
With the generous support of our donors we have been able to donate 2000+ backpacks to First Nations communities in Ontario since 2020.
